Thinking about joining us? Here is everything you need to know

A Welcome for All

If you are curious about Freemasonry or about Lodge of Harmony No. 255 specifically, we encourage you to get in touch. There is no obligation, and no question is too basic.

An important principle of Freemasonry is that candidates must come forward entirely of their own free will. We do not canvass for members. However, this does not mean you need to know a Freemason to make an enquiry — anyone is welcome to contact our Membership Officer for an informal conversation.

The lodge has members from a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds, and from a variety of nationalities. What we ask is only that prospective members are of good character, are aged 21 or over, and hold a belief in a Supreme Being (of whatever faith or tradition).

Who Can Join
  • Men aged 21 or over
  • Of good character
  • Holding a belief in a Supreme Being (all faiths welcome)
  • All professions and backgrounds welcome
  • All nationalities welcome
  • Joining of own free will — no solicitation

What to Expect as a Member

Four Meetings a Year

Regular lodge meetings on the third Tuesday of January, March, May, and October — running approximately 4–10 pm, including a formal dinner.

Lodge of Instruction

Practice evenings on Tuesdays between regular meetings, where members learn and rehearse ceremonial work in a relaxed, supportive setting.

Social Events

The lodge hosts and participates in social events throughout the year — from informal gatherings to special dinners and community activities.

Charitable Purpose

Members contribute to and participate in charitable fundraising — part of the broader Masonic tradition of supporting those in need.

The Journey into Freemasonry

Becoming a Freemason is a gradual process that unfolds over time through three degrees of the Craft, with no pressure to proceed faster than you are comfortable.
